(Written the day we arrived, but hadn’t set up the wifi yet.)
I woke up at 3:30, too excited to sleep! I got up and finished packing — and, of course, I kept packing and “remembering” things until the last minute! Claudine took us to the airport, which was nicer than taking Super Shuttle.
I’m pretty dang tired, so I’ll just say that the flight was long and uneventful. Charlotte got to watch Mysterious Island, We Bought a Zoo, Mission Impossible, and something else neither of us likely saw since we were asleep by then. We were fed well, with peanuts, then lunch, then ice cream, then “breakfast.”
I tried to get a cell phone, but my bank card didn’t work — which complicated things. How to I call my bank without a phone to call on?? We had our bags delivered to the house — they arrive tomorrow. Nice that we didn’t have to carry them on the train! The train was quite a bit confusing, but we got advice from a sweet older man who chatted with us until his stop came up. The train ride was an hour long, and we were both pretty exhausted by the end.
Charlotte and Mai got along right away! They chattered in the back in Japanese! Charlotte told me later that she was helping with her English too.
