Subject: Wings of Honniamise this wednesday!

Sorry this is going out so late!

Yep, this will be the first wednesday of the month!

This month's movie is called Wings of Honniamise.  It's a lovely and deep film about an alternate-Earth's first man in space.

The first and foremost thing that comes to mind with this movie is the art direction -- WOW!  I cannot express how intricate a world they have built -- almost to the point of neurotic. :)  Every aspect of the culture and world has been touched, from their coins, to their cemetaries.  I find it particularly interesting being an American watching this film.  Some things were meant to be foreign-feeling and others familiar.  Because I am not Japanese and know little about the culture, I find pretty much everything to be foreign to me.

I'm esp. sad that I don't have a script for this movie.  The artwork is so *very* breath-taking!  It's a real shame to spend your eyes on the subtitles...

The plot itself is deep and complicated.  I'm half-tempted to stop it once or twice and explain a little what I understand of what is going on, much like I did in Tanuki.  So forgive me those of you who might be irritated by this.  I'll take a vote when we get there...  [It took me about 4 watchings before I really figured out what was what was where was why...]

When the movie is done, I'd really like to hear what your thoughts are on it.  There's a lot in there, and a lot more questions than answers for me...

And some of the scenes rival Apollo 13 in beauty!!  Wow, this is an amazing film!
